As a valuable employee with solid customer feedback and no sick days, Jane (Teresa Pavlinek) is confident that she'll get a good evaluation. So when Stella (Kate Trotter) puts her back on probation and freezes her income, Jane decides it's time to seek out Mr. Walker (Sean Sullivan) and explore her options. It's been six months since Jane turned down an offer by Mr. Walker. Now the publisher has started his own underground press and he wants Jane to be the managing editor. It's less pay than she's making at Spirits - but she'd be working on the front lines of the indie scene. Meanwhile, long-suffering Walton (Darren Boyd) decides it's time to cross the great divide if he's ever going to win Jane's love. For Jane, he'll become a plant-eating liberal, support universal health care, and oppose factory farms. But when he gets the devastating news that Jane's leaving Spirits because of a bad evaluation, he realizes it's time to put his money where his mouth is. On her last day at Spirits, Jane arrives to an empty office, unaware that Walton has rallied the team to protest her unfair treatment. While her co-workers are out on the street causing a ruckus, she's inside doing such a knock-out job that Stella admits she blew it and offers Jane a raise. Jane turns down Stella's offer; but then changes her mind when she hears how her co-workers went to bat for her. Walker is disappointed - but Jane calls it her five-year plan with benefits. |
